Ultimate Nonograms App Reviews

Im not impressed

True, in the light version there are 325 puzzles. But as far as I can tell, the puzzles arent pictures. All of the previous apps that do not make a picture havent gotten good reviews. There are far better versions of this particular game and those of us that play these type of games know which ones they are. 10,000 games is absolutely way cool but not having some type of color or a design makes having 10,000 puzzles completely useless, unless you like puzzles for puzzles sake. Also, any decent company can make puzzles that arent pictures. It takes the great ones to make them color and look like something. Keep trying. For right now Ill stay with color cross and pixel plus and griddlers.

This is great

The game rocks, I like it. A cool and simple puzzle game... Lots of fun!

Challenging & fun

Im enjoying the challenge this game offers, and its very well executed. It reminds me of Kakuro, but its more purely spacial: no arithmetic to distract from finding the pattern that works. Im sure itll keep me challenged for a long time!

Pictures?!?!

These puzzles are a waste of time. They dont appear to be anything. The controls are quite bad compared to similar games. Glad I didnt spend money on the full version!

Addictive

This is a great version of nonograms. I have done most of the games like these and this is one of the best controls. One request is the ability to turn off the slide filler. Also having a difficulty level might be cool.

game changer

This application changed my life. I used to think that these sudoku type things were just for people that didnt have any friends, but Nonograms Lite opened my eyes to a whole universe of intellectual challenge! Forget Chess, Go, Quantum Mechanics: all I need from now on is Nonograms Lite!

Misses the point.

There are two things to judge a nonogram program on: quality of the controls, and quality of the pictures. The controls are mediocre at best. Nonograms involve working with an often-large grid, and there are well-established patterns for zooming and scrolling around a grid on the iPhone. Instead, I got a set of cursor-buttons and an unzoomable grid for all but the smallest puzzles, and a button for marking cells. The method for marking more than one cell is clever, but didnt work well for me. The pictures, however, are what destroy this app: there are none. The puzzles are all random blobs of black and white, with no coherent image to see once the puzzle is completed. Given that the entire appeal of this sort of puzzle is in using logic to reveal a hidden image, its just useless to have a nonogram app that doesnt actually have images.

Quitting unexpectedly

I love nonograms the game but I hate this app. Every time I play, the game unexpectedly crashes on me making me lose the game or even several games. It also just Locke d me out of a game I was playing and froze the app. It hasnt been fun dealing with the app and I will not pay for the app if it is this bad on the freebie.

Meh.

Im a huge fan of picross/nonogram games, but acknowledge they are hard to implement on a small screen--even if that screen is high resolution. The cursor keys are a good alternative to having a full touch interface, but in this application it is sluggish and unpredictable. The graphics are fortunately simple and muted, so as not to distract from the puzzle, but I would have liked an icon presentation of the puzzle so that you can see a picture emerge and not just feel like your finding an arbitrary pattern. All in all: not awful; not great.

Not very good

No offense to the programmers, but I was expecting something a lot more polished given the relative simplicity of this game. Several menu options were broken and a few times I couldnt get pop-up windows to close after selecting an option. During the actual game play, after pressing to color in or x out a cell, sometimes the cursor would jump to a different cell and change its status accidentally. Since theres no undo button, its hard to go back and remember what was there before. It also seemed from the previews that thered be a way to zoom in on a section, but if there was, it wasnt immediately obvious. Finally, when I was done, the image created wasnt a picture of anything. It was just a random design. Overall, not a very enjoyable game play experience.

Pretty good

I can enjoy playing a few games, but sometimes the app crashes. This causes some recent Xs and black sqaures to be undone. This is very frustrating as I worked to fill those squares in. Also, when clicking "Go for it" on the Daily Puzzle confirmation menu, the puzzle loads, but the confirmation menu still stays there. I am unable to close the window and unable to solve the puzzle without restarting the application.

Crashes...

Good attempt at nonograms on the iPhone, but the app crashes CONSTANTLY. I am surprised when Im able to successfully get through a game. Even when it doesnt crash, the controls are poor - the directional pad can be very unresponsive. The lack of actual pictures is also a bummer. Everything is random blotches of black and white. Understandable for a free game. Fixed controls and less crashing would bump my review 2 stars easily.

Could be better...

This is a great game, but a bad app! I love the programming and design of the app, however it severely needs an update. Crashes all the time!!!

Love it but...

I absolutely love this puzzle game. Its challenging, but not frustrating. My only concern is that it crashes all the time! Often I cant even get it to open. I wish this issue could be resolved, the game would undoubtedly be 5-star worthy!

Great!

You rock, Mr. Rosenthal!!!! Really good app! - Toto = )

Great, but fix it!

I have to echo everybody else: it keeps crashing. Im tired of re-installing it. Otherwise, it is fabulous. An undo button would make it even better, but... One thing at a time.

Buggy

More than half my time on was fixing the things the bugs did. Good for sometimes and the puzzles were challenging but bugs hindered the experience.

Clumsy

I love this type of puzzle but this ap is just clumsy.

What happened to the tilt button?

The latest update removed it! The puzzle is tedious without it

Easy to use as always

Best monograms if not best puzzle app. Love having endless puzzles. Tilt will be nice if back!
